Unreal Reality

Contributed by Azurik on Saturday, 3rd November 2007 @ 09:12:46 AM in AEST
Topic: MiscPoems

So
Fade off into the night sky
Past the peeling walls and fume-darkened streets of cities
Where nobody knows anybody anymore
Into the stars, scattered diamonds
Glittering sand on a volcanic-ash black shore

You've never really belonged in the excited throngs
Doomed to never look beyond the safe comfort of the earth
Singing all the safe and happy songs
That to you conceal life's own worth

They've never wondered why they're here
Never looked beyond the subtle comforts of
Sports and jobs and elections, markets and wars
But you, you've always felt different, out of place
As though you don't belong to yourself anymore

The person you are doesn't seem to exist
Nor does anything else that you've known
And yet the logic part proceeds to insist
That you are, as is everything shown

Ever stopped and wondered
Why we exist here on this speck of dust
Caught between
fingers of space and time
Ever wondered why all of this is real
Or why we can think, and speak or rhyme?

There's no real explanation
And yet they don't see
What all of the universe
Is truly made out to be
They belong, they have Normal things
To cling to, to love
Down here on the ground
Far below existence above

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
