Lifes Bait

Topic: dedicatedpoems

His memories are fading of the man and times he knew,
The names all slip away from him, needs reminders for a few.
The one thing that he can't forget is how he loved to fish.
So I took my friend to memories and granted him his wish.

I guided him to water and provided him a chair,
He remembered every moment of why I brought him there.
His smile brought forth the sunshine as I tossed him out a cast.
I knew from eyes of gratitude he'd come back home at last.

He sat for hours enjoying his time upon the beach,
I wished for every memory to fall within his reach.
I hoped that just for one day more he'd find his quiet space,
to help his heart remember every time and every place.

A better day I haven't had since granting him his wish.
He cast for catching memories, he didn't cast for fish.
I didn't get to measure all he caught that day.
Thanks Carolann as he smiled at me, was all he had to say.

Oh sweetie, this was splendid! We, as humans, take so much for granted. I once thought memory to be essential
to my life. And now, I understand why I thought thus. There was sadness in this, but also a heartwarming that
could heat the coldest night. No one should have to suffer days without the memory of love. It is a horror I wish
never to have to face...

but, in the off chance that I do, I truly hope there is someone around like you- that would care enough to aide
me the way you did in this piece. It's beautiful, ND. Always stunning and utterly visible is your heart.

Exceptionally blessed are all who read you ...

*drys tears and hugs you oh so tightly* Wow, this was written extremely well and the subject matter absolutely soul catching. How beautiful that you two shared that moment. ND, you make me think of the many times I worked with Geriatric patients and the wonderful things I shared with them, or they would share with me. I think it made me appreciate life that much more. You're a fantastic human being, my sister, and thank you so much for sharing this.
Much peace, love and hugs,
Little Sis
