Here I sit,
By the water’s edge.
The stillness of the wings.
In the stillness of the wings
Before a great storm.
No sound
Animates this place by the water’s edge.
As if the world was on hold,
on pause.
Waiting to let its untamed breath
Out and coax the storm.
Watching the sky’s tears fall,
The cool hands caressing my cheek.
Rippling the glassy water.
Ripples intertwining together,
Like the lives of two young lovers.
Their lives starting small,
Then growing until they fade together.
Stillness is once more,
Only up most branches twitching.
The water now glass once more.
The sweet calmness,
Before a bitter storm.

There are some magnificent lines in here ...
I have always been incredibly lured by an approaching storm. It
delights and teases me in a way that little else does. Great observations
here, darkheart. Your piece seemed to hold its breath in the first stanza
and then release, much like a storm's calm is caught before it lets
loose the rage of wind and rain.
Great post!

This is awesome! I love the line about sitting at the water's edge. I think you meant the rain water, and that's an awesome thought, but I'm not sure.
I love the Ocean, Rain, all things water, so I loved this poem.
Take care,
David |
