Doomed to suffer alone in my shell
Each day brings a new level of hell
Where do I turn when I trust not a soul?
Not even myself the parts nor the whole.
My shadow itself betrays all my hope
If possible it would leave me and elope.
Run off to find some better life
Away from me and my endless strife
My body, soul, and mind are broken
Like shards of glass upon the floor
And I’m in the dark cutting myself
Vainly attempting to put it back together
My life is an impossible jigsaw puzzle
Since every piece of me is gray
Put me back together if you can
But I don’t see why you would
Since there is no pretty picture
It accomplishes nothing good.

Mark, I have missed your work. What a very forlorn and desperate write
this is. You have emotionally described the bottom of despair's well. And
done it with amazing aplomb. Most of us have been there, trying to claw
our way out, and what you have displayed upon the page for us, seals the
grave reality of that in our hearts. Damn. This is almost too much for
a heart to bear, really.
Though, I would like to say .... there is more than gray. There is
so much more colour to our life than ever WE realize it. You are
looking from the inside out, but trust me ... those who view it
externally, see much more than gray. I'm sorry (if this is
written from reality), that you've been thrown into a situation that
grips the heart with icy fingers, but know, always the colours
of your life will bleed through the dark. That is a certainty.
Hoping for bright colourful days for you, my friend. =)
