The Princess of Recess

I tease my little princess bout bringing flies to school.
One buzzes bout her as I explain this simple " no flies" rule.
I take her tiny hand and say what you got hiding there?
Her laughter warms my heart as I give that teasing stare.

We have to play our silly games to pass the time of day.
Her eyes have told me many times what fun it is to play.
She loves to hit the water pool and feel the freedom float.
I tell her " lay a top the water, you're just another boat"

Her shirt reflects the truth of life as lain upon her chest,
the words of my best playmate "I like recess best".
Finally tired of sitting at that favourite time of day,
I lift her from her iron chair so she and I can play.

Just touching feet to ground below and standing at her height,
is all the recess that she needs as tiny muscles fight.
I tell her she's so tall for five and that she has big feet.
The smile she sports just warms my heart as other kids she greets.

They love to see she's out of chair and fighting just like they,
To walk and run and do the things that make the child their play.
They trust my arms that brace her tight and know when she gets tired.
The courage in this moment all from her inspired.

The courage to stand and the courage to fight.....is my strength always and tonight. Goodnight Christina.

There are times when I envy you much, my dear ND. But I know there is heartache
in all you see and do, as well. But in moments like this write, damn, there is just
so much warmth and love, I want it ALL! lol (We need more of that in this dark
and selfish world). Watching and playing with Christina sounds like a tremendous
joy. So glad you have that. And that she has you ... =)

lovely, heart-filled write, as always, my friend. Your heart is so full!

*hugs*

~Breezy
