Some Brown for the Blues

Contributed by reprobate on Friday, 26th October 2007 @ 03:27:34 AM in AEST
Topic: Grief

If ever you should find that it has come to pass
I couldn't rise from being knocked on my crown
Then I hope midst all your "told-you-so" sass
You'd have the decency to dump me underground

Yep, just bury this sorry carcass in the wormy dirt
I'm so very tired and I'm finished with all the world
Toss me as-is, no need for any shoes or fancy shirt
And don't stand there while the "nice" lies are hurled

Although I've done a bunch and seen even more
Couldn't help unfortunates when I heard them choke
Got nothing to show for my life and I'm less than poor
Worked until every joint creaked and sinew broke

Tried to do right but succumbed to tawdry hype
Oh, but I bought into their beguiling din and sin
And I've paid dearly for listening to that tripe
So, there is nothing to see, just throw me in

I believed I was strong, even thought I was good
Was only human, so many mistakes, far from tough
Just toss me into some hole, quickly, if you would
And no need for tears, I've cried more than enough

Yeah, if it should come, at last, my final sleep's begun
Please put me under some rock for my eternal night
Don't waste breath or time on this misbegotten one
For in this life, it will be the only thing I've done right.

Ok...did you sweet talk the secretary into letting her let you use her 'puter? *smiles and winks* Geez that was one hell of a write. Wow. (thinks I should give you a call, man) Damn I know these feelings, but come on, your last lines were just heart-wrenching and soul wrecking, my brother. Truly.

"Don't waste breath or time on this misbegotten one
For in this life, it will be the only thing I've done right"

You're as crazy as I am. *throws inflatable sheep your way*
Peace, love and hugs,
Me

hey michael, don'y go getting all dusty and
worm eaten yet, you have a gift of poetry that
needs to be penned and read by the world,
your art is also amazing, i meant that about
the gallery, this poem is very sad, beautifully
written tho sad... the images are tangible and
your readers can relate to the expression of
feelings, anyway if someone knocks you
down and you can't get up, when i find out
they will meet my big stick:)

hugs n' love nessa
