you thought no one was looking
you hoped no one would hear his screams
but i was right outside and helpless
right outside and helpless to do anything.
i was thinking thatd youd be right here
her to save me from martyrdom
lying on the floor inside and hopeful
inside and hopeful to be rescued.
attitudes change as i perceive things in a different way
ill leave my criticism to pass through objectively
you've told me more than once that you wouldnt last the day
the last i saw your face is fading pitifully.
i am your bare witness to this crime so long forgotten
i am your bare witness to this crime that times forgotten
she knew i was here but she could also feel my weakness
she knew he was there but she knew she didnt care
i knew i was helpless to stop her from stealing your hope.
