red and yellow leaves

Contributed by iodinelove on Thursday, 18th October 2007 @ 01:19:49 PM in AEST
Topic: LoveRemembered

I come to you once more old friend, as a child and a man, the trembling of my soul swelling into a great thunderous sob—I come to you afraid, disheartened and alone, with no hope but the cold unfolding fall that comes with remembering your name and with nothing left to say.

Upon the measure of my hands, your hands found reason for red and yellow leaves, found an autumn angel’s eyes, unable to find the strength to cry.

Old friend, I am in need of you now more than I have ever been in all of my life. You, the enkindled heart doused willingly by the pain and the tears of the unloved, you, breaching always the folly of my fears, lowering your lips to mine to undo the tangled sounds of thought that I need but cannot say.

(that wouldn't be a birthday, would it?)

This piece is flowing with music all through itself. The rhymes are nicely balanced by the near-rhymes, so that neither becomes overt, yet both are still present. A pleasure to read, as ever.

Penned very nicely, Abraham. Beautiful piece with a touch of sadness. I believe, a day that "recognizes mortality" would be a birthday? So happy day to you. Thanks for sharing.
Peace,
Laura

A wonderful write, indeed, Abe! Age and experience... things that are unavoidable. But they make life richer, eh? Happy Birthday!

Happy Birthday, if it is your birthday.

It's been a while since I visited your page, and I'm so glad I saw this today.

I love how your writing sparks my imagination, and makes me think.

This is penned cleveryly, and beautifully, as with everything of yours I read.

Good write.

*hugs*
