A Soulful Journey

Contributed by The_Phantom on Saturday, 13th October 2007 @ 10:08:17 AM in AEST
Topic: oops

Behind this mask hides a simple man, a complex mind is hard to understand,
Though my poety may have been forgotten, I still hold a place for YPDC in this locket,
Years have come and years have gone, Yet my pen still writes as my mind moves on,
I go months without anything, and then out of the blue it hits me,

Yet another poem I write, as day turns to night,
The moon takes flight as the sun says goodnight,
Stars appear, as I think back on 31 years,
Why am I here, staring at a poet without name in the mirrior,

Who am I as I break down and cry,
Am I Phantom or Kane, or are they one in the same,
Has the poetry changed, is a shadow of myself the only thing that remains,
Heart-broke by design, or is it all in my mind,

A soulful journey, leaves me yearning,
An uncontrolable urge, as line after line merge,
Emotions run high, as rain drops fall from a clear blue sky,
Turn the page, as the poetic blood sends me into a rage,

The ink shall run dry it's just a matter of time,
The day will come when we say goodbye to The Phantom,
I empty my heart through this jebbish I call art,
Every begaining must have an ending, so I set aside my pen in hopes to write again.

Forver Faithful
The Phantom

I think that last line has enormous power in it. I, for one, could never put my
pen down. It would mean a certain and instant emotional death for me. But
to seek something by doing the opposite, now that is courageous!

The journey is long, my friend. Much longer than we ever think it's going to
be. There is so much more for you to discover as you search the depths
inside yourself for reason and truth.

Kudos on the work. There is much for us all to consider within it.

ummm i think that we are always finding and refinding ourselves as time goes on. also, expressing ourselves is a great way to find out more about ourselves, but so is changing. I was very moved by your poem, so it is art because art touches others. thank you for the emotions and the thoughts.

Well, I for one hope you never leave the site. I kinda get that message from this one. I think it takes time to get around and discovering everyone here at YPDC. Things get buried on the home page and unfortunately probably never get seen by many of us. I have been here for over three years now and am only now just discovering your work. Sometimes we have to muddle our way through the muck to find a treasure.

I think I just now have figured out that Kane is an alter ego???? I thought you had actually co-written The Meeting and The Confrontation with someone else. I like that. We all need to get in touch with our inner alternate selves. Thanks.

Thank you for a very enjoyable read.

Tim
