Gifted

Topic: SadPoetry

Don't you see,
We're gifted,
Because we've drifted
Away from the world they're living in,
Whether we've been pushed towards it,
or just walked in and got lost in it,
We're gifted because we've seen what it's all about.

We've broken down the barrier,
There are no layers of lies
Between the world and our eyes
To shelter us from what we may see,
No rose tinted glasses to disguise what we do see,
We're gifted because we've seen the world for what it really is.

Aren't you glad you're not like them?
Happy and sane,
Each one of them the same,
None of them know the truth,
They've been saved from knowing the truth,
We're the gifted ones, cause we know what it's like.

What is the real world? This does not tell me...it tells me that they are happy and sane, where does that leave you? I feel it is a great poem but needs a more meaningful answer then-we know what it's like.

Obviously (to the last person) you don't know what its like whereas I do so I understand this poem a lot. Good write Emily I've read better by you, but nonetheless another great poem. Keep on writing and feeling.

Like I said, this poem is a good poem. It has done it's job splendidly, here we are debating!
My comments were NOT on the subject matter, but the poem itself.

yes, m, we are sensitive people..... like the water that flows gently downstream, around the rocks and obstacles in its path, you n' i have a gift of sight, we see things that others do not; as does the heart n' soul of all poets; we have been there and were things happy and sane in our lives whatever would we write about? i love this poem, excellent, excellent, much love and a big hugg for you, nessa

An interesting perspective.
