My Husband's Prayer

Contributed by Bizzy on Wednesday, 5th March 2003 @ 06:20:00 PM in AEST
Topic: LovePoetry

"When I die,... I want to die in your arms."
Oh, God,...hear my husband's cry;
grant through me his prayer request
as You lift his soul and last sigh.

We give Thee praise
from our joy entwined hearts,
and thank Thee for all these days.
Our hearts are filled with days of love
That lightened and brightened our ways.

In our last moments together on earth,
may we know our lives will not end;
let us be glad that You are there,...
and an end to our pain,
You will send.

Let me hold him close
and kiss him good-bye;
let my heart pour out its anguished cry.
Let his heart flee to You;
flesh quick to die,...
and my soul be brave
'till I Heavenward fly.

G.F.R. Coykendall, March 6, 1988

Thank you, Sharon, for your comment on Your Heart and your good wishes to my husband and I. The poem was written 10-12 years ago and we have been granted more years than I expected, but still I hope there will be alot more. May blessings be poured out of heaven's plenty upon you! Bizzy
