Stone Fences

Contributed by Willofree on Tuesday, 2nd October 2007 @ 09:27:59 AM in AEST
Topic: MiscPoems

A fence line of granite boulders,
arranged in a symmetry of span and design.
About head high it stands,
the rocks arranged in a perpendicular line.

At the corner a right angle bend,
even so the same formation they remained in.
Primarily of triangular shape,
all the same direction, none could escape.

Their color ranged from black to white, and
a sparkling array of reflected sunlight.
An exterior rough in texture,
yet inner warmth abides inside.

Each stone contained a multitude of blemishes,
although there was beauty in its imperfections.
That which was imperfect,
gave uniqueness to each stone.

Much strength was harbored in this structure,
and diversity is what gives it character.
An expression all it's own,
all have a group presence, yet each stands alone.

Lovely job, Willofree!

This could go in a book of riddles.
You know, the kind that say,
I am this, I am that, what am I?

Is this a metaphor for humanity?
I'm dying to know exactly what it is...

Keep 'em coming, Willofree! : )

Different stones/boulders in representation perhaps of we as humans?

"Each stone contained a multitude of blemishes,
although there was beauty in its imperfections"

I liked that line...Will, good stuff here. Thanks for sharing. Always a pleasure to read you.

Peace and hugs,
Laura

Ah Will ... so much to contemplate in here, my friend. It's gorgeous in its magnificence--
not unlike a stone fence. This reminded me SO much of my childhood, spending summers
at my grandparents far up north. Stone Fences as far as the eye could see .. some man
made and others created by nature. I loved the landscape they created.

I love Laura's analogy about humans and stones. Alone they are each distinctly
beautiful, but together, don't they make for a breathtaking sight? And the
more they stand together, the stronger they are, no?

Beautiful write, Will. Thanks. :) I adore how your writes make me ponder a while ...

~Breezy
