You've become the darkness Angelina
Can't you read the writing on the wall?
Can't you see that time is quickly waning?
You're the biggest loser after all
Traitor to the things you held as holy
Judas, a betrayer of the light
You've become the darkness, Angelina
A permanent companion to the night
Oh that I could lead you to the morning
Walk with you on painted fields of dawn
Let the calm of sunrise warm your spirit
Help you find a way to carry on
But morning is a danger to the conscience
And dawn can make it harder to forget
And you prefer the darkness, Angelina
As far away from sun as one can get
You've become the darkness, Angelina
A Judas, a betrayer of the light
Traitor to the things you held as holy
A permanent companion to the night
Can't you see that time is quickly waning?
Can't you read the writing on the wall?
You've become the darkness, Angelina
You're the biggest loser after all

One of the hardest things is seeing someone you love hurting and trying to help them only to find that they don't actually want to be helped. Heartbreaking and emotional.
You write fluidly and powerfully, a pleasure to read and consider.
Take care,

This was beautifully written. Unlike most poetry I read on this site, it had meter and rhyme; which i enjoy. Thank you for posting it.

That's one hell of an opening line, my friend. I love the rhythm of it... and, too, the how-much-is-in-it. It really does set the tone for the piece straight away and that tone, goodness, doesn't falter ever.
To be honest, this is probably my fourth trip to this page (I've lost count, really). I've slipped away previously, obviously, without commenting for having not known preciously what to say. I still don't... except, perhaps... at a miminum... wow. I adore what you did here... it really is quite something, poet.

[and Larry? Thank you for the comment you left me recently. It felt... like a hug. *hugs you back*] |
