RUIN

Contributed by Davinah on Friday, 28th September 2007 @ 03:33:24 PM in AEST
Topic: oops

The dirty, blood stained clothes and that look in my eyes.
It should have been so obvious that something was off.
And when I when I went into hiding, no one followed me there.
They just let me fade away, day after day drowning in despair.

Pain and shame; I’ve given up on myself years ago.
The little girl with the dark stare took over and she never left.
Not one of the bad boys, not one of the happy girls.
I’m stuck in between here and nowhere.

Well, she is messed up inside for good; barren.
I could be capable of so much more than hate and fear.
If only someone had showed me love I could’ve survived.
If I hadn’t been left there silent, feeling like a victim.

One day perhaps I’ll return to the bridge I never crossed.
That place where my innocence got torn apart, hope got killed.
Legs forced apart; what a nasty way to shed your virgin blood.
I still bleed from time to time over the purity I lost.

And I don’t remember their faces, just the smell.
I could only feel hands, and something else
as my soul got ripped to pieces.
They wouldn’t stop, they wouldn’t stop
On my last day of summer.

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
