I'm alive.

Contributed by moses on Monday, 24th September 2007 @ 06:30:16 AM in AEST
Topic: Lifepoems

I live different lives
all at the same time.

I heard through the grapevine
that you want to get out of here too.

Driving down Main Street
on a Sunday afternoon
I can feel the air rush on by me.

Did you hear that?
I can feel something, finally.

And with the music blaring
I sing along
I sing along
I am alive
but a lie
and alone.

Just who have I become?

If only we could get together
and walk by the river
I know the best spot,
where there is a tree that hangs over the water.

Sitting with our feet dangling
talking while watching the thunderstorm roll in.
And we won't move an inch.

You can tell me where you've gotten stabbed
and how it all scars because you pick at your scabs too.

But there's always a but.

In my car with the music blaring
I sing along
I sing along
that I'm alive
but a lie
and alone.

Just who have I become?

I wish all of my dreams could become reality,
but there's always a but.
And now all i can do is go on singing

I live different lives
all at the same time.

It's all driving me insane
I ignore all my problems and all the pain
And push the petal down farther,
not knowing if I want to take this turn
or drive straight
straight into the guard rail.

Oh it never fails, I tell all the same stories
maybe too much
because now I can't tell if they're true anymore.

Maybe I don't know me anymore.

I'll drink it all away
and the next day I'll drive
with my music blaring
and I'll sing along
singing
I'm alive
but a lie
and alone.

Just who have I become?

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
