Long Lost Truth

selfstruggles

The city lit clouds
envelope life below...
creating a world within
their ethereal orange glow.
Covering the secrets,
the pasts, and the lies,
hiding in the night,
coming at you with surprise.
Just when you thought you
understood the world around,
the clouds closed in and claimed you
crashing hard into the ground.
You the thought the clouds were breaking,
thought the stars were peeking through,
but they only held on tighter
crushing all you thought you knew.
From the wreckage of disaster...
from the darkness of defeat...
you struggle through the piles of ash
and wander along the streets.
The people passing look at you
then turn the other way,
chasing their own long lost truths
in a masked, unrehearsed play.
We call it life, this chaos,
but it's really just a show...
and when the crowd has disappeared
the stars begin to glow.
Burning hard a bright
they stare down from the sky,
willing you to find your way
out of the cold, unruly night.

Beautiful, the vivid images you left captured this heart and I floated in this poem with you.
Hold true in many senses.
Lovely meter and flow.. Wish I could ever get that part right, lol anyway I enjoyed this!
