Your Obligation

When the shadows begin to creep, and the rain starts to fall
I cry out to you only to find you have erased me
Every dream of light and serenity,
Is now just a figment of deranged imagination
You stand outside this maze of knives
And watch as I crawl in search of your hand
Detached from all that feels, you reach to touch my face
To me it is the bandage on my wounds
But to you only an obligation
My tears fall again yet freeze before they land
I have begun to harden
On show for everyone to stare
I cannot escape nor can I breathe
You laugh at your excuse of an attachment
With all your sullen friends hanging onto every devastation
These thoughts of boundaries, racing in my head
Continue to diminish all the scraps of hope left lying in my pool of blood
