My Apologies To You

Contributed by lostinmyself on Monday, 17th September 2007 @ 12:57:20 PM in AEST
Topic: EmotionalPoetry

I apologise to you, my past,
for holding on to any dream,
not knowing truth for what is,
and only seeing what it seems,
I apologise for holding on,
and letting hope control my heart,
but I ask you now, what is the use,
of letting pain tear me apart?
I apologise for not speaking out,
or letting pain and anguish free,
and losing myself in the depths,
of hiding you from honesty.
and I'm sorry more, for letting go,
and even more for giving up,
I love you still, I hope you know,
but now it's just too tough.

I apologise for not being what
you needed me to be,
and not holding to you stronger,
when you backed away from me,
I'm so sorry for not fighting,
because you asked me not to try,
I should have punched and kicked and fought,
not watched you as you cried.

But most of all I'm sorry,
for never being brave,
I tried the hardest that I could,
but we're too far gone to save,
and I hope you always know that,
although you walked away,
I will always be the one,
my heart will truly blame.

So take this as a last goodbye,
and please ignore the tears that fall,
'cause even though I ache and cry,
I'm sorry, for nothing at all,
and there will always be the moments,
when I miss us at our best,
but when you read these words, please know,
it's just the end that I regret.

~~~~~
For James
I think you have captured what almost all of us have felt at one time or another. You captured it with grace and beauty... I really enjoyed this....Great work
Hun, you know what stunning work I think this is. And how terribly impressed I am with your raw and unaltered
emotion. It is where poetry lives and breathes. I would love to be this candid with my own thoughts sometimes.
I envy you, this. There is a sadness in here, yes. No denying that, but there is also a release of something so
much more powerful. And it is that that will exercise the demons from within. Perhaps we all need an apology
poem, eh?
I am amazed with the flow and rhyming of this and how it is hardly noticeable. I am amazed with the wording
and how you give the "past" an entity of its own, because it truly is its own entity. But mostly I am amazed
with your candor and bravery. You've got a spirit that breathes a rarity and beauty not many can attain.
Gorgeous write hun. Completely flawless.
*hugs you tight*
~Breezy
For a rough and unedited poem it is surprisingly polished. I do not mean that it has lost the sharp edges that enhance the agony, only that it is the better for still having them there, because it makes it more raw. I do agree with the honesty, painful honesty, as it seems. I hope that writing this has been cathartic for you and that putting this down on paper (or screen) has helped you move on or at least cleared the path that allows you to move on.
Powerful, emotional stuff. Its very well written as it is.
Take care,
Dom
Wow, this is truly and emotional read and write. I found myself thinking of how many times, I myself, have said I'm sorry...or I've heard the words from someone else. They are very powerful words, I do know that. Your apologies seemed plentiful, almost cleansing to read. You are a beautiful person, Phil, for putting yourself out there, for your honesty. Being able to realize ones faults and make atonement for them is honorable.....just remember, don't be too hard on yourself, unfortunately we are human and we err.
Love you sis....
Peace and big hugs,
Laura
I've always thought...(and I'm sure told you several times) that you write so incredibly emotionaly. The more you feel, the better your writes.
I only wish the great ones didn't come from so much pain.
Don't ever give up......on people...and on your writing!
You're so eloquent in this one... You're expressing yourself better all the time. Smile, friend, I hope happiness will find its way into your words.
Take care,
David
