The land of the wee

Contributed by MattTheMan on Tuesday, 4th March 2003 @ 08:00:00 PM in AEST
Topic: oops

Alone I go walking;
I'm walking alone,
In the land of the wee folk,
Where no one seems grown.
They're not Nelwins, not midgets, not hobbits, not dwarves;
They're just little people,
Holding little pitch forks.
For here, you see,
(In the land of the wee),
Things seem to me
Quite rustic to be.
For everyone here
Is a shepherd of farmer,
All save the charming ones,
(They're just little charmers).
But the charmers, quite sadly,
Never have work;
For everyone's married
To sheep, or to dirt.
The wee walk around
Through their little town,
Looking forward or up,
But never straight down.
But now and again,
These people look down.
When no one's around
To cast them a frown.
For here I have found,
(In this little town)
It's considered quite wrong
To look at the ground.
The ground is for sheep to eat off
And seeds to grow.
But can it not also be
For the beholder's eyes?
Oh my.
Heavens no.
