I'm so very close,
Something's holding me back,
But there's nothing to stand in my way.
Could that possibly mean
That it comes from the past;
The word ruined by pained yesterdays?
How unfair it seems
To have such desire
Though frightened to say it aloud.
And to keep thinking of
The lies of a liar
That once kept me from being so proud.
To say that I love him
Would be no mistake;
No deception, no red flag, nor doubt.
But to SAY that I love him
Would risk my heart's fate
To again be in love and without.
