Like An Albatross

Contributed by deadheadpoet on Tuesday, 11th September 2007 @ 04:21:30 AM in AEST
Topic: EmotionalPoetry

I want to go
but can't
or won't
Is it out of fear
or love?
Sometimes
I think it's a little
of both

I'm like
a frightened child
locked inside
a nightmare
which will not end
How do I stop
the cheap matinee
I can't seem to
keep from viewing it
again and again

Two people are
so broken
Two people are
so hurt
I feel like you've
ripped out my heart
and stomped it in the dirt

I don't want to
do this
I don't want this pain
I want to just
take flight
Like an albatross
so free, so strong
I'll rise ....
through the pouring rain

You perfectly describe the situation, the pain you are in and the desire to be free of it. A great outpouring, I hope the answers come flying your way soon.

You and only you must control what and how you feel. If you empower any other to dictate how you should be, either directly or passively, then you will not experience true freedom.
Beautiful read, dear lady.
thanks for sharing...

Laura,

a raw and emotional analysis of the classic dilemma - but there was lots of tenderness here as well.

Fight, flight or freeze - our primal responses still dictate our range of reaction, and in our writing - the depth of our expression. Good stuff.
(Now try and write something so funny you laugh out loud at your own words!)

S.
