The dark itself isn’t scary
Or at least I’m not afraid
As long as someone is with me
This dark monster I evade.
Pain itself is bearable
Or at least I can hold strong
If someone bears it with me
The pain won’t last too long.
Sickness itself is curable
Or at least I can put up a fight
As long as someone cares
I can live through another night.
Depression itself is treatable
Or at least I can fake a smile
If someone can cheer me up
It makes my day worthwhile
Life itself isn’t a hardship
Or at least it shouldn’t be
If someone would just give a damn
Wouldn’t we all be happy?

Good work.
I luv the way you did the first two lines in each stanza.
Life itself isn’t a hardship
Or at least it shouldn’t be
A very good write and oh so true.
Some of us care to much and others don't care at all.
Awesome writing.
big huggs,

"If someone would just give a damn
Wouldn’t we all be happy?"
*thunderous applause!!*
Wouldn't we just though?
Damn, this is something. I mean there is so much in here. So freaking SIMPLE, and yet seemingly so difficult too.
We are all, (unfortunately and entirely in spite of our protests), selfish to some degree. After all, if we are not
our best, how then can we give to others, you know? Still, there are many who reach out only in times of
a "needing" and just don't understand the gravity of allowing themselves to be "available" when THEY are
in fact, needed. It is an amazing heart that can and will do that. I wish I could bottle the feeling one gets
when they've cheered a friend, or even turned a corner for them, for it could surely churn seas, move
mountains and calm war. At the very least, it might help us sleep better at night.
Wonderfully thought provoking write, my friend. Hope all is well. :)
