Cliffs at the edge

Contributed by zenith66 on Saturday, 8th September 2007 @ 05:55:14 PM in AEST
Topic: NaturePoetry

The seas deep rumble, rolls and threatens in the storm
Undulating azure blue, spitting reams of bubbly foam,
I feel its beat resounding like the heart of the world,
The clouds boundless body races over eerie lands,

Dawn crawls from behind the many grey escarpments,
Barely lighting their sweeping dark forms,
Do I stand on worlds lonely edge?, where darkness duels with dawn,
What lies beyond the wild and windy ridge,

Quiet misty sheets are brimming just behind the furthest slope,
Writhing murky waves aspire in vain to touch the lonely precipice,
and smash with otherworldly echoes back into a sea without a shore,
The sky begins its heavenly dirge, rain begins to pour,

Every inch of sea and sky obscured by wind driven drops,
Everything feels the titanic isolation, the rock face holds me firm,
And at the base a dismal cave invaded by the fervid tide,
Surely!, where nocturnal thrilling terrors do reside…

This was an excellent write. Your vivid descriptions and word usage put me there. The rain soaking me at the end. Beautiful. Thank you for sharing.
Peace,
Laura

Damn zenith, you really captured the moment here. Holy heck ..
I feel as if I'm on that cliff, chilled and soaked to the bone,
staring down at the frightful depth, (and I'm afraid of heights!)

Brilliant descriptions here, my friend. I always adore it
when you write about the sea, but you truly outdid yourself
with this one. It is bursting (bubbling over, even)
with P A S S I O N !!! (LOVE that!)

Exceptionally done!!

This is good. The first stanza sets the scene perfectly. Great use of colour and so full of action!
