I Can't Blink

Contributed by deadheadpoet on Tuesday, 4th September 2007 @ 12:08:08 PM in AEST
Topic: LostLove

Don't you remember how you told me to trust you?
That you were different
not like the others
Your heart was a true heart
Your heart would never lie

You revealed you had been hurt before
Betrayal of a lover is so painful
I told you all about myself and my falls
You picked me up with damaged wings
and made me believe I could fly

Soar into the sky I did
Feeling freer than ever before
I, feeling like I'd found "it"
The heart and soul
The pieces that were missing

This love grew into this perfection
of two hearts joined into one
All was revealed to you
Parts of me that I'd never exposed
to any other soul

You were like this magic man
Sent from far away to my town
You were like nothing I'd experienced before
I believed in you
Trusted you...more than even myself

There were no secrets
There was never a need
We were one, bound by the cosmos
Love that lived for eons
and melded together again

Roads were beautiful, following you
Some were treacherous, but I kept on
Sometimes I wanted to quit
But you kept reassuring me of your love
"I'm not like the others"

You treated me like a princess
Kindness exuded from your soul
This feeling, this love
Is something you search for an entire life
I felt to be the luckiest woman

Through everything, I leaned on you
No thoughts I would not share
Fears I did not hide from you
I thought we had this "thing"
This promise...this vow, to one another

How could you say you are different
Then do the same thing
That tortured and killed me from before
How could you hurt
an already damaged soul?

You left me in soul
You went another way
You lied about your beliefs
Tragically taking a path
Which can never be changed

My heart lies beating
Bradycardic
On the cold hard floor of this reality
My mind screams to wake from the nightmare
Eyes wide open and...

I can't blink

beautifully written expression of feelings that most people reading this elegant poem will relate to of some point in life; shattered hearts -it amazes me we continue to go on but on we do.. and love, oh so precious; ~ rare as a four leaf clover....

hugs n' love nessa

Heartwrenching to read, hun. You take the reader with you right through that emotional journey, soaring with you in the highs and despairing in the lows.
And that ending, the torture and anguish in those last few words...it must be so hard for you at the moment, I can only imagine.

Hugs,
Dom
