Again, I say to love thyself!
If thou wouldst love another, or wouldst have
another be in love with thee, then heed
my words, for thou must learn to love thyself.
Stanza 14"The Liturgy of Love" by Epaphroditus
(Proclamation of the Order of Philotes) (date unknown)
My best and truest friend,
who knows me to my core
the guardian at the gates,
your allegiance all but sworn.
When dark forces rise
to overrun the line,
on the ramparts, facing them
you stand with weapons drawn
As tiny barbs dig deep
To cause the meanest harm,
you ease the greater pain
with touch and gentle balm.
In times of trial and doubt,
when I sense all is gone
you speak reviving words
that say, ‘You’re not alone’
Compatriot to my soul,
your guidance straight and true
when lost on endless paths,
the compass points to you.
Your scars are just as mine,
your happiness as well
I hold you to my heart,
and trust you with it all.

Wonderful words of inspiration and truth, Spike. Nobody can ever know us as completely as we know ourself which makes it so important to recognise and appreciate that.
'You're not alone'. I love these words for their simplicity and honesty, bright, blazing words of truth that we so often forget and that should be comforting to us in dark times.

I am reminded of the passage from Hamlet, which states, "to thine own self be true" after reading this. And
what wise words they are indeed.
We must trust ourselves in order to love ourselves, and yes, that is sometimes a difficult burden. But to admit our
faults even unto ourselves is likely the hardest act of reality. We offer so much forgiveness for others that we
find difficult to afford ourselves. But you are right, spike. Only in loving ourselves, can we truly be free to love
anyone else. And only our own heart and soul truly has our own interest in mind when making the journey of discovery.
Great words. Wise and actually, quite comforting.

'Losing an illusion makes you wiser than finding a truth'
And that is the shortest route to truly knowing and loving the self.
Penned to perfection,Oh great sage.
Health and happiness,Friend.
