Puckered

Contributed by thumper on Sunday, 26th August 2007 @ 09:28:15 AM in AEST
Topic: DarkPoetry

The scars won't recede, fade away
They stay stubbornly on the surface
Puckered, an angry glaring red
Reminders of pain and suffering endured
Tough callouses to guard against and repel
Future abuses to itself
Protective ugliness

They are typical of any scars. Numb to the touch
But if bumped, send sharp stabbing pain
To the very core of the heart and soul
Puckered reminders of dastardly deeds done
To create this insensate cape
That swathes my being
Shields me

As each wrong has been comitted
More scars have been formed, appeared
Until the entirety of my pshche
Is a shell of puckered nightmares
Warding off anymore pain or abuse
Enveloping me in an ugly cocoon
Of numbness

I've been so lost for such a very long time now
An existence in a dark grey fog of nowhere
Sometimes I long to escape. To feel again
But when I peer outside my protective cloak
Someone pokes at one of my ugly puckered scars
I remember what it's like, and I don't want to.......
Anymore.

Thumps

Oh Thumps, I'm so sorry that you are afraid to feel. You poetry must be written from a very "feeling" heart then, because I can feel each one of your words.
You're such a splendid Poet Thumps........I mean that!! I'm so glad to be back and reading your great poems again.
May you find peace in writing these great poems.........and don't ever stop writing them. To share is marvelous, it's like giving away your heart and that takes much courage and bravery on your part!
Warm love,
consue
