It Just Isn't Fair

Contributed by PhantomsLDY on Tuesday, 4th March 2003 @ 06:30:00 AM in AEST
Topic: EmotionalPoetry

It just isn't fair
They never asked me what I thought
They never asked me if I wanted this
They just went ahead with it anyway
They decided that war might be the way to go
Maybe it is but couldn't they have asked me first
My husband's life is on the line
My family is hurt beyond belief
What they feel is almost grief
I cry myself to sleep because I don't want anyone to see my pain
I can't let my husband know
I have to put up a strong front and tell him I'm okay
When what I really want to tell him is that I'm dying inside, afraid for his life
It just isn't fair
I can't tell the only one who understands
I know he knows how I feel but we just can't talk about it
He has to know I'm strong so he can do his job
I have to be strong, so my life doesn't fall apart
No one knows how hard it is, at least that's how I feel
I know that there are so many like me
I know that there are other military wives
I know that there are so many other family members
I also know they feel just like I do
It just isn't fair
We are so proud of our own
Our chests fill with pride
But, pride won't heal our wounded hearts
If they don't come home
We know they do this to keep us safe
They do it for love of country
When they say it's time to make a stand
But I still say......
It just isn't fair

You're right, it isn't fair. You poetically ex-pressed your grief and anger well. God be with the both of you during this awful time.
