Craving Soul

Hear the words softly muttered,
drift on the wind, thousand times scattered
and over dunes the spoken word floats,
drifting in time.
Fall behind the soiled sentence stench
left on the lips of the timed machine,
break away into a void of darkness
where unspoken feelings utter...
"Break the vow made,
stop living like you're dead,
give up on others' dreams so
you can listen to your own screams"
As doodles evolve on paper
echoing the thoughts
of lost time and memories
that would have been.
Slay the soul
so rest can be found
on the following truth:
stop listening to the crowd.
