What a lovely sight tonight
sitting with you under twinkling lights.
After being friends such a short while
you asked for a date, made me smile.
The gazebo lined the garden path
we sat, talked, we both laughed.
You told me about the love of your life
not long before you had lost your wife.
It was easy to listen for me
a year before, under the same tree.
You talked of your children, so very bright
for our first date, a lovely night.

"Cute" is not a word I'm fond of using, but it is definitely necessary here! This was a very cute poem,
"The gazebo lined the garden path
we sat, talked, we both laughed."
I liked those two lines a lot, I'm glad the first date was one worth remembering :) |
