We got the shaft

Contributed by wordsy on Tuesday, 14th August 2007 @ 09:50:09 PM in AEST
Topic: political

All we are demanding
Is a simple understanding
The knowledge of a truth
That we’ve not heard

A common thing you’d think
But you’d find it on the brink
Of something that some
Would call absurd

And despite the innuendos
And those who peer through windows
Though the ranting and the ravings
Be not deterred

There are some of us who feel
That we’ve got shafted on the deal
And within us
Our anger it has stirred

It would seem they’ve run amuck
Tried to roll but forgot to tuck
And we’re the ones to bare
the bulk of blame

Because we listened to their lies
though they wore no disguise
And still it is you know
We played their game

Good rhythm and rhyme. It made the write flow very well. I'm not exactly sure who you feel is doing the "shafting"....but for me I think the US government is the professional "shafter" in this world. Thanks for sharing and thank you for reading me. Much appreciated.
Peace,
Laura
