Better On The Other Side

These city wall confines
I just can’t stand them
They’re there all the time
And I can’t pretend
That they’re not holding me back
My future, my present, my past
They’re all here and I can’t let it go
They all hurt and I can’t let anyone know
I can’t pretend
These walls don’t affect me
I can’t pretend
I don’t have bigger dreams
I can’t see
Past this spray painted concrete
You just can’t see
What the other side means
I NEED to be over this wall
I was born on the wrong side
Without those opportunities I’m so small
Without that my spirit dies
You just can’t see
If I were over there
How happy I’d be
If I didn’t have to be scared
To be myself
On this side I’m a misfit
On the other: a free spirit
Free to do what I please
Well, the place meets my needs
The one’s I’ve been born with
So why can’t I cross?
Why wont you let me?
I know I’m not lost
Wont you let me go
I’d be better off you know
On the other side
