(Let's) Die Another Way

Contributed by Sunsetdolphin12 on Monday, 3rd March 2003 @ 09:20:00 PM in AEST
Topic: Lifepoems

Like the pus, all frothy and speckled with blood, from the gross and swollen wound of an adder’s bite,
Coagulate and leperous, the poison seeps.
Like a plague, writhing with germs, it is spit out
Infesting with its foulness, where it lands,
And damning the curdled hearts of the innocent children,
Until covered with blisters, swollen and vile,
Do they become, oozing out with that thick and black witches’ brew

Like a hellish blanket of darkness vomited from the depths of hell,
It crawls on the torn and broken earth.
Like blood-caked flies on mud-encrusted gore,
Stalking its victims, growing in their unknowing minds,
Until it swallows the last hint of gold,
And suffocates the grass, the trees and the singing birds.

And thus, a thousand years or more fly by,
And so, will our descendants,
On unearthing our rotten ruins,
Turn to one another and gravely say,
So, my son, that,
That was a Lie.
