Concussed Thinking

I lean into the past,
Cradled words,
Forms of roses
And score through the thorns.
I am ridiculous,
A painted mutiny that doesn't know the words on the placard.
Are we arrested?
This silence is carved into my head,
Mute thinking,
No speech.
I shudder to say more.
Are we sending each other subliminal messages,
Small hints?
Maybe my arrogance overwhelms.
I dare not assume.
I am scared.
If I take the largest sledgehammer to form,
Twist,
Swing,
Shatter the mould of closed mouths
Not knowing what will emerge,
Pluck up my courage,
Show you my missing parts...
Will you sneer in my face, "I don't miss you at all?"
