No Candle To Be Lit

Contributed by SmileSkinDeep on Monday, 13th August 2007 @ 02:19:29 PM in AEST
Topic: StoryPoetry

I, in all my glory
Have forgotten how to bow
I have forgotten my story
Forgotten what I'm allowed

As though everything around me
Is moving but I cannot see it
Without the light I can't see
But I have no candle to be lit

Lack of inspiration
Lack of self esteem
There is my indignation
There is my eye's gleam

Far, far away
When I left my sorrowful state
You can't go back in time
Only to a place
But that place is far behind
And you must keep your pace
You must keep in line
Though you lost your sight for this race

You can ask for a piece of mind
You can take what you please
You can choose to be blind
You can ignore your nagging needs

Be blind to everything around you
Or maybe just ignore it
Dark took your inspiration too
Yet again, there's no candle to be lit

You can beg and beg for another candle
But who are you begging to?

In this dark no one will share their light
Its far to precious, as is their sight

Distrust in you, the unkown, blind beggar
They need to keep their light too
Their greed is much grater
Than anyone's generosity
You've been left on the cobblestones
Of this cold cold city

This cold, unfair city called Your Life
Oh April, if you could only see
There are plenty of good people
Oh April, if you could only see

There are oppritunities
There is light
Nothing to be shed on you
Nothing close to sight

If only I could see
This city would be so beautiful
I'm sure of it
But I have no money to pay the toll
And not a candle to be lit
