Destined Forever To Be Alone

Contributed by deadheadpoet on Sunday, 12th August 2007 @ 01:40:31 PM in AEST
Topic: SadPoetry

The sign hangs on the old faded wooden door
Reads to all "No one's home"
Truth is, she's locked inside
Destined forever to be all alone

No company she wants or needs
To have come and pay her a call
She'd rather be with herself these days
Others can't be trusted, no one at all

She's so confused and missing
Her mind is damned near gone
Living in her pitifulness
Destined, forever to be all alone

She wades through her memories
As if lost in an endless clouded maze
Feet caught in twisted wicked chains
She hobbles aimlessly about... for days

They messed with her too much
Gave grief beyond what could be condoned
Ripped her heart and soul to shreds, now she's...
Destined, forever to be all alone

Sad, but all too familiar. Withdrawal from a world because it is untrustworthy and abusive is a reasonable defence, but not without its price, as you have indicated here. Still, it's an existential truth that we are alone, even in company - we should at least have some say about the company we keep. A most thoughtful poem, with some strong emotions bubbling through.

sweetie ... what a torturously forlorn piece of writing. Damn ... it's sad. I don't believe anyone is
ever alone, to be honest though we feel it .. damn, we feel it deeply sometimes. Truth is, I think
we are all connected and that it is a basic human condition to want to reach out and help those who are
hurting, lost or less fortunate than we may be. Granted, there are those without a conscience thought
for the well being of others, but if the situation was grave and we were on an equal playing field, I think
that you'd see more people take up the role of caring and nurturing ...

I feel for this poor soul .. so lost .. so desperate for
just ONE to understand and accept her ... as is.

Wonderfully thought filled piece, sis.

peace and love,
~MG

This is the sadness one feels indeed. Often hard to get out of the darkness we are left standing in.
It can and will happen...time and reflection soon change ones direction.
A wonderful write to reflect the depths we often have to fall in order to regroup ourselves.

Hey Laura,

I decided to look you up. I loved this poem, it just feels so familiar. It is sad, but more than that it's touching.
