Beware (People are not always what they seem)

Contributed by jerseysue on Tuesday, 7th August 2007 @ 03:21:02 AM in AEST
Topic: selfstruggles

Be wise in life, and also wary too
For in the shadows mischief brews
It hides behind a mask of kindness
But in truth it can also blind us

We trust sometimes, without reason
And are open to such wanton treason
For those we think we know so well
Back stab and become a living hell

They talk of you behind your back
Twist your words, and call it fact
Make your life a misery too
Why! to just get back at you

Is jealousy the key to this
These vipers who so loudly hiss
They smile at you then do their worst
And laugh at you when they cause hurt

So you become the only fatality
And somehow face the cruel reality
Be wary of who you do befriend
You may come to a sticky end

Their mask it hides a darker side
And in your secrets they will confide
Ne'er do wells of devious means
Take no part in their nasty schemes

These words they stand as testimony
Of how such people treated me
I am older now and wiser too
Beware ! it could happen to you

Another insight into you in your words that I can use for that creation I haven't completed yet. Sorry this "testimony" piece had to be written by ya. Best I can say fer ya is, "stay in the saddle, pard" or would that be pardess?. Keep that beautiful smile.

why do people do that? i ask myself that many times and so far alot. they need to hide well then hide, do not take ones with you and hurt. yes people are not who they say and i have learned more and more as i grow with age. good write tho. it was free and flowing.

Yes, we trust for many different reasons, so often misguided by how people appear.Deception done well can fool even the smartest people.
No doubt we will all continue to blindly trust.I know I so often do..........perhaps Im an optimist.
