This Is The Day

Contributed by deadheadpoet on Saturday, 4th August 2007 @ 05:26:10 AM in AEST
Topic: AnniversaryPoems

This is the day
two hearts merged as one
First day of "together"
had begun

Married in a Southern town
Old county courthouse
where many other lovers
made vows and were bound

South Carolina
Moncks Corner to be exact
Wedded by a beautiful
black woman (she was so kind)
I'll never forget her...or that.

We were married in our tie-dyes
Grateful Dead on the scene *wink*
Couple of happy hippies
Living and loving our dream

We've encountered a few rough spots
Hesitated and fell
A love like this can't be taken down
We're still standing pretty well

Well Happy Anniversary baby
I'm glad we met
Being married to you, my sweet
Has been one hell of an event

~smiles~

I love you, Damon

I hope the remembering is not causing you any pain.
A very heart warming piece and sharing of a day close to you.
Strength of heart is always proof that loving has made you grow.

Oh my, sis! I was crying like a baby by the end of this! Wow, hun!
This was so beautifully woven and tremendously passionate in
both sentiment, essence and word. It is an amazing thing to behold,
the love that you two share. I know you have had some dark times,
but the strength and perseverance that you've shown is both
loving and admirable. I love how you mentioned the moments of
that day that touched you ... as it touches all who reads this
loving tribute to the day of "we are one".

In light of this remembrance, I raise a glass to you both!!

May you have and continue to have happiest of happy times
and many more 'versaries to come.

peace and love to you both! :)

~MG
(*hugs times a million*)

Happy Anniversary hun! It sounds like its been a rocky road at times, but you've got through it stronger each time. I love the story you give to the reader, the scenes you paint that stretch back in time to the very beginning of your marriage.

Simply lovely,
Dom

Happy Anniversary. This is wonderfully sweet and the last line, "Has been one hell of an event." That made the poem. You're good.
