What Went Wrong ?

Contributed by blueheart on Monday, 3rd March 2003 @ 05:30:00 AM in AEST
Topic: SadPoetry

Why am I staring at emptiness?
So dissillusioned and lonely,
It wasn't supposed to be like this,
I planned so I would be great,
The coolest girl around,
Complete with respect and admiration,
Yet silence is all I have now,
What went wrong?

My heart is aching, the pain I bear,
I ran too far ahead, I didn't look back,
I thought I had friends,
When I needed them where did they go?
My friendships have crumbled, I thought they were strong,
There's no one by my side anymore,
What went wrong?

I need to be loved,
I need a soul mate,
There's someone special for everyone,
Or so they say,
Then I should have found him by now,
He should be holding me close,
Yet I only have a one way romance,
The craving for trust and companionship lingers,
What went wrong?

I pretend it's all okay,
Like life was perfect and flawless,
But my soul thirsts for more,
Everything is insufficient,
I thought I planned it well,
A future so whole and meaningful,
Yet I sit here in the corner of my room,
Wondering what went wrong.

good stuff :)) I could completely identify with your feelings in the third paragraph. A beautifully heartfelt poem. I was also looking for 'the ONE' that perfect specimen of a man who would complete my soul...but I've figured he doesn't exist. For me. I've stopped looking. You, on the other hand have so much to offer. You WILL find him...I promise :) All in good time.

* Happiness, always *

Arwen

Ahh my young friend..love, like a good poem, cannot be rushed into existance. If you have a chance read When You Least Expect It on my page. I really enjoyed this very emotional piece of yours! Well done! :o) Larry

Love yourself.
Then give away
All the love
You feel today.
