Wild Heart

Contributed by spike on Sunday, 29th July 2007 @ 07:15:46 PM in AEST
Topic: ambiguous

You’ve been out with the wolves again,
roaming darkened trails
over hills and glen,
hunting easy meals

You’ve been howling at the moon,
fierce eyes and savage grin
did the pack wrawl your name,
when you fell all over again

Is that blood upon your lips?
and shame upon your hands
civility easily slips
when beast forgets the man

so you curl in your favourite chair,
and growl when I tuck you in
dreaming of lunar glare,
to run with the wolves again.

Geez man, there is so much I'd like to say here. I'm afraid at this point in my life, if I started....I might not want to stop. Damn, what is it about men? You know, my feeling is, everyone has the right to do what they need to do. My only expectation is honesty. If a man or a woman... for that matter....want to roam like the "wolves" than so be it. ...I wish the wolves would think about what they're leaving at home...and if they need to roam then be honest about it. Nothing is worse than finding out after the fact.
Biting little write there, my friend.
Peace and hugs,
Laura (who can't stop thinking about your title)

PS I couldn't get the picture to load up on my laptop this morning, so I am curious as hell as to what it is.....

Interesting poem Spike! Spectacular raw, savage imagery.
The potency of this poem is that it makes us consider our own animal nature, questioning if we are like the subject of the poem, and if not what could push us to be like that. It probes into the depths of our soul and the most instinctive parts of our nature, and has an uncomfortable awareness about it.

Brilliant!
Dom

Spike, my friend ... I have reached the conclusion that you could write about anything, when you have a mind to.
I am with Laura ... in fact, I'd even go one further to say, if a man, (or woman, for that matter), wishes to "roam"
then they shouldn't tie themselves down. It's not fair to all those concerned, if he/she still has a restless heart.

Wolves are actually my favourite animal. They are pack hunters, and very social animals. In fact they all
take turns looking after the younguns. Mothers, fathers, aunts, uncles, sisters, brothers ... one stays
behind to watch them while the rest go out to hunt. They are extremely misunderstood creatures.

But you want to know the most interesting thing about a wolf? When they mate, they do so for life.
Humans could actually learn something from them.

I'm struggling here with the word ambiguous...somehow I just have the feeling that there is more here than just the obvious about a man ...roaming....
Your last stanza especially stikes my curiousity....ah well, even at face value its an amazing piece...BRAVO!!!

i am agreeing with some of the others here. its not only man, but woman. either can run with wolves. its humun error to seek yet the grass can not always be greener. sometimes yes, but how do one know unless they nibble. just be single when doing do. good post
