From a Truckers Wife....

Contributed by lowman613 on Sunday, 29th July 2007 @ 12:01:29 PM in AEST
Topic: dedicatedpoems

The highest price a trucker pays,
Is being gone from his family most days,
They go unnoticed & looked down by many,
But just look what they do for the money,
How many nights sleeping alone,
Only talking to his family on the phone,
Sleepless days & sleepless nights,
trying to do what they think is right,
just a few cat naps here & there,
While their families eyes filled with tears,
A Truckers job is such a hard life,
Missing things with his kids & his wife,
This kind of work is not just for anyone,
It takes a very special person,
But that load has to arrive no matter what,
Nothing can't stop the pain in his gut,
The sacrifice they have to pay,
For being on the road day after day,
This is what he chose to do,
So I stick by him through & through,
He saids "it's so hard you would'nt believe",
When the youngest ones yelling "Please don't leave!''
Another load must get out today,
For a safe return we all do pray,
Watching that big rig going down the street,
Untill the next time our eyes will all meet!

I can tottaly relate to this write. My ex (the father of my grown kids) was a trucker.
You've summed this up really well.
Good job.

Christina,

as you know I have pretty much left here but I felt compelled to comment on this write.

I know the life as I did it for along time...... This is a beautiful tribute to your husband and all trucker out there.

I understand it so clearly...... I also admire you for holding the homefront together while Rob is gone......

If you got it a trucker brought it!!
