Joe's Member Me Day

Contributed by NoSaint on Sunday, 29th July 2007 @ 10:32:34 AM in AEST
Topic: happypoetry

We promised him trains
He saw more than a few
He even got to see
The inside of a caboose too

We picked him up
At half past ten
That is when
The fun began

To the park we went
Near train tracks busy
Three trains going so fast
They made me dizzy

Then to the junction
Where an engine stood
Lady at the bead shop
She understood

That Joe wanted to see it all
So she unlocked the caboose
In Joe climbed and soon
His imagination was loose

After all this excitement
Saw two more trains
Then to the Station Restaurant
Pizza on his shorts left stains

Laughter and excitement
As more trains passed on by
But the day proved to be
To much for our little guy

I drove past the airport
So he could see the planes
But he was fast asleep
His head against the windowpane

So went Joe’s member me day
This 3 year old brightened
Leaving Grandma and Great Grandma’s
Appreciation of trains heightened

I am a G with a 3 year old grandson. So, I can definitely identify with your poem.

Thanks,
