i saw a man today
who i used to know
when he was a boy
and had a long way to go

from the outside looking in
he hasnt changed a lot since then
but when i looked in his eyes
i could see life gave him trials

though his laugh was reserved
and his steps werent as light
his walk was still strong
and his eyes were still bright

over the days, weeks, months and years
through smiles, hugs, kisses, and tears
this once reckless rebelling daredevil young teen
grew to be the man who i knew would someday break free
