Lavender

Topic: StoryPoetry

Softly the scent of lavender
Wafts across the stony floor
And she walks there
In his dreams once more

She was but a woman child
Barely all of sixteen
When he asked her to be his bride
And he would make her a queen

Her father proudly presented her
For he had hoped for this since her birth
As she wore lavender in her hair
He was the happiest King on earth

They ran through the fields on sunny days
And danced together in the rain
But now the smell of lavender
Only leaves him in pain

She was but a woman child
But with child she became
And presented him with a girl
Lavender would be her name

Another year another child
This one a boy so strong
But weakened she knew
She could not hold on long

Away at battle the King was
When his wife to heaven went
But sometimes late at night
He hears laughter and that sweet scent

So painful Shari, but exceptionally beautiful.

What a remarkable story .. so beautiful, so sad. Tremendously
emotive.

Lovely tale, sad but beautiful.
My grandmother used to have lavender bushes in her garden and the smell of lavender always takes me back to my childhood.

Take care,
Dom
