If Instead

Contributed by AnenaLynne on Saturday, 28th July 2007 @ 01:34:01 AM in AEST
Topic: DarkPoetry

My heart has iced over from hatred.
My flesh is now wounded and scarred.
My body has traveled ten lifetimes,
But my soul never made it that far.
I’ve lost all control of my senses.
A kind word of gesture is strange.
Sadness now leads me towards darkness,
And I’m much to far gone to change.
The candle that once guided me is fading.
My destinations getting harder to see.
The bulk of my strength has now vanished.
My conscience is my worst enemy.
My heart has iced over from hatred.
My body is tired and weak.
The emptiness in my soul is unchanging.
My voice whispers and groans when I speak.
Desperation shadows all of my movements.
I regret everyday that I live.
And irony says this could have been avoided
If instead of anger I had chosen to forgive.

Wow, Nena~
Now that's what I'm talking about girl. Damn this is good. The rhyme and flow are top notch. I love your entire write especially the last two lines,

And irony says this could have been avoided
If instead of anger I had chosen to forgive.

Bravo Nena, keep it up girl~
