Lolita

Contributed by bohemian_with_a_pen on Friday, 27th July 2007 @ 06:32:17 PM in AEST
Topic: anguished

just for you i'll paint my cherry lips
and just for you i'll swing my virgin hips
we've waited for forever and mummy isn't home
daddy won't be back, we are all alone

lying in the dark i can hear your footsteps down the hall
wriggling with excitement at each closer footfall
terrified and lonely, yet special and in love
hold my breathe in silence - stare at the ceiling above

hating every moment, enjoying every touch
keep your fingers off me, but too much is never enough
i am your lolita, a precocious confused girl
i will bare my skin, the burning white unfurls

our time is nearly over, that's it for today
as you leave my bedroom i can hear you say,
"it's our little secret, don't you breathe a word".
i would never dream of it - this abuse is my world.

a confronting poem, this one. I quite liked the wording and construction.

The 'first person victim' perspective does capture the ambiguous feelings expressed by some kids in this exploitative scenario; most of them are confused/scared/repulsed/overwhelmed by what seems to be an all too common experience.

omg that left me speechless. How cruel that it does repeat the horrors every day somewhere, somebody else too..pray release and tell some one
should be the final line..

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
