Judie Lee was only three,
With a young mind fresh and free,
Her hair shone like the summers day,
She chased your fear away,
Her eyes like morning dew,
With each smile your heart grew,
Her smile so joyous, yet frail,
Her skin so perfectly pale,
She followed her mom down to a stream,
Planted a single seed next to the waters gleam,
The girl visited the seed everyday,
Even after her mother passed away,
It never grew, nor showed any sign,
Of ever sensing the long time,
Judie Lee took care of it though,
Everyday, she’d go to a fro,
She sang sweet songs,
And murmured right along,
Day in and day out,
The seed would grow without a doubt,
“Flower, flower grow for me,
Become a flower from a seed,
Grow your roots and a stem,
Let the water come right in
Flower, flower you are true,
You make me happy when I am blue,
You will become a flower from a seed,
You’ll do all that just for me”
She was now ninety-two,
The flower still never grew,
Everyday she watered that plot of land,
And patted it with her old wrinkled hand,
She sang the same old tune,
And the flower never grew,
Hopeless and helpless, she stopped returning,
A spot on her heart was always burning,
For that flower that never grew,
Finally grew when the love subdued,
For one last time Judie Lee walked to the river side,
And found her flower more than alive.
She cried a tear of pure joy,
When just ran up a small boy,
He picked the flower and skipped away,
Judie Lee Died that day.
She fell right then and there,
Withered away with gleaming grey hair,
Heartbroken and age tarnished,
The old woman soul vanished.
That flower was all she had, all she lived for,
When it was gone, she was no more,
Life is testy sometimes, but we’ll make to the end,
For that flower we must attend.
