T O R M E N T E D

Contributed by Willofree on Thursday, 26th July 2007 @ 12:31:23 PM in AEST
Topic: EmotionalPoetry

Oh, how I torture myself,
and conjure up all those fears.
Why do I wallow in the dark recesses of my mind?
Life is difficult enough,
it needs no further assistance from me.

Like the bitter cold of biting winter winds
seeking any vulnerable unprotected area;
clutching at my body
a whirlwind or swirling confusion.
The dreariness descends upon me.

Tears sizzle on my cheeks,
as hot droplets collide with cold flesh.
As testament to my trauma,
like a cement mixer,
is the churning of my stomach.

My mind force-feeds negative thoughts.
A feeling of panic engulfs me
like a heavy blanket smothering me,
suffocating my inner flame.
Left gasping for air, I feel trapped.

Must I suffer this way?
Shouldn't life be lived in a manner of degrees?
My negative self-perceptions seem to prevail
discounting any positive traits.
My mind seems to be my worst enemy.

My thinking becomes distorted
and creates all my misunderstandings.
What I seem to remember
is lost by what I forget.
A state of disorientation reigns.

One looses sight of the positive
and focuses upon the negative.
There seems to be a self-delusion.
So what we have is distorted,
and to what we aspire seems out of reach.

Wow Wil. When you come in and post... BOY! You give us
a doozey!

I think your selection of topic is so more than perfect! For
surely there is emotion flying high inside these lines. And
an awful lot of. ... hmmmm .... "maybe I should rethink how
I am seeing things." I think that is why we, as humans all need
each other. We need to know, from the OUTSIDE that the
negative perception of self, is perhaps a little magnified
and even embellished, and that also, to remind us of the
many positive situations, circumstances and points to our
personalities, goals, dreams, wishes AND ... aspirations.

Perfectly said, my friend. A wonderful testament to
how we talk ourselves out of being .. 'daring'.

~Breezy

Good work friend.
I use to be the worlds worse at this. It takes much to train your mind to think positive but it can be done.
Hope you feel better soon.
huggs,
emy

Such self-doubts and negative thoughts can be crippling. They can stop us challenging ourselves or doing things we enjoy, but it is a cycle that is so difficult to break free from. You have expressed these anxieties and impressions brilliantly, I only hope you can find a way of shaking them and flying for your dreams.

Take care,
Dom

Terry ...

after my initial read I knew I would have to let you know I had been here ... but after my third or fourth read ... I went back to your very first post ... "LAMENT" ... I encourage you to do the same ... perhaps you will see the growth that I have come to find in your works. You have developed so very much in such a short time. I know that will only continue. May you be as blessed as your pen sir.

I believe that if our aspirations seem out of reach ... it would only be due to the fact that we have limited our vision to the length of our arms ... and not the height of our dreams.

Nazzy ~
