Keep it Coming

A culture of peace
Has slowly subsided
Tyranny has finally rendered it silent
Commotion
In the streets below
No emotion left in the faces I used to know
The history books offer
descriptive reminders
Of a stolen past
left far behind us
A simpler time
with women and love
All was fine
When the sun rose above
Poets, philosophers,
Intellectuals and such
The pious bunch
Quickly turn to dictators
Unruly oppressors, to power they clutch
Rioting in the streets
Police hold their ground
Stomping feet
Revolution is just around-
just not as much
Around a sharp corner
I will be found
alone thinking
of my being with regrets

Intriguing write, powerful words, and you took it in a direction that I wasn't expecting.
Nice read!

So much to think about in this intriguing piece... Just love it! This is the kind of poem people come back to, and everyone takes something a little bit different from it... Great ending.
