The Edge of Broken

Contributed by AnenaLynne on Wednesday, 25th July 2007 @ 02:25:04 PM in AEST
Topic: EmotionalPoetry

Her heart drummed violently within her,
As she stumbled through the night.
Her sobs blistered through the silence,
As she ran with all her might.
But her might was quickly fading,
And her strength had shuddered out.
Her screams had built up inside her,
But she had no courage left to shout.
He had chased her for forever,
And she had no place left to hide.
The blinding bitterness of this realization,
Stabbed sharply at her pride.
As lightning crashed above her,
She heard his chilling laugh.
It made her think of former nightmares,
And horrors from her past.
She ran desperately down an alley,
Praying for an escape.
But destiny had already predetermined,
Her grim, unfortunate fate.
She could feel him inching closer,
And she became paralyzed with fear.
And as the man glared down at her body,
Her vision blurred with tears.
Her screams of anguish were muted,
By the thunders deafening cry.
And he left as soon as he finished,
With a contemptuous smirk of goodbye.
He left her on the edge of broken,
Defeated and in pain.
A broken hearted tragedy,
Slowly dying in the rain.

this is by far my most favorite poem that you have written! it almost drove me tears...such a difficult topic and you portray her suffering with such depth...i LOVE the metaphor "she was on the edge of broken". I look forward to reading whatever else you write in the future...keep it up!!
