Once Beautiful

Contributed by AnenaLynne on Tuesday, 24th July 2007 @ 01:59:49 PM in AEST
Topic: EmotionalPoetry

She was trapped in a hopeless existence,
her body a hollow shell.
She was subdued to a life of resentment,
and condemned to a personal hell.
She spent her days in denial,
her reality a distant dream.
She was secluded inside of a darkness,
Where no one could hear her scream.
She had no one to rely on,
No one to share her fears.
She had no happy memories to cling to,
And no one to dry her tears.
For as long as she could remember
She’d always been alone.
A wandering soul ceaselessly searching
For a peace to call her own.
A dark cloud of despair surrounded her,
And her body hung low from shame.
She resembled a once beautiful flower
That has withered from too little rain.
She longed desperately for freedom
From the chains that had her bound.
She longed to lift her head toward Heaven
Instead of hanging it low to the ground.
She screamed out for redemption,
Hoping against hope that it wasn’t too late.
But she knew that nothing could save her
From experiencing her unimaginable fate.
So she began releasing her inner demons,
And exhausted she fell to her knees.
And as darkness engulfed her being
She knew that she was finally free.
